The Mary Morgan Moore Department of Music at 果冻传媒 offers a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Performance with a concentration in winds or percussion, which is tailored for you if you like to show your talent in front of adoring crowds. The program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music and fully immerses you in the cultural study of music, composition, performance techniques, education, history and more.
Here, you can sing in a chorus, go to a live performance, compose an original piece, enjoy music of various genres and play your instruments, all while refining your natural gifts and talents. Surrounded by artistic institutions throughout our area, we strongly encourage you to participate in Southeast Texas’ cultural life.
Some of our regional ensembles include the Symphony of Southeast Texas, Beaumont Interfaith Choral Society, Beaumont Community Players, Beaumont Ballet Theatre and the Beaumont Civic Ballet. Other opportunities lie in our rich variety of religious institutions, live music venues and community theatre companies, to name a few, that are always willing to have LU music students as performers – and some of those pay scholarships or stipends. Orchestration: Techniques of writing and arranging for orchestral instruments in small combinations and for full orchestra.
Repertoire and Pedagogy: A presentation and study of the literature, its performance, styles and means of presentation for a particular instrument or instruments. Eight semesters in the same instrument required (MUAP-applied) of each major.
Advanced Repertoire and Pedagogy: Advanced study of the literature, performance practice, styles, pedagogic traditions for applied study (instrument, voice, or composition) that correspond to the applied (MUAP) major.
Chamber Music Ensemble: Chamber ensemble for students in the Bachelor of Music in Performance or the Bachelor of Music in Composition. A course designed to give the student an opportunity to study and perform music written for smaller ensembles. These groups will participate in various recital programs throughout the year. Four semesters required for Bachelor of Music in Performance and the Bachelor of Music in Composition.
World Music: A study of music of the world cultures.
As a performance major, you have many options open to you upon graduation, depending on the areas in which you network and perform during your studies. We highly recommend further graduate and even postgraduate study to take you to the heights of your career as a professional performer.
